SCHOOL PROJECT

SAILORS FOR A DAY

This is an educational project promoted by EST GARDA, which has been active since 1996 in promoting sailing on Lake Garda as a formative, educational, and inclusive tool. Sailing becomes a true school of personal growth, where children develop emotional, relational, and social skills while respecting others and the environment.

The project aims to foster curiosity, a spirit of adventure, cooperation, respect, and a sense of responsibility , fostering the ability to embrace change and work in a team. Through the direct experience of sailing and the stimulation of an open environment like Lake Garda, students are guided to reflect, observe, and collaborate to stay on course and follow the wind.

RECIPIENTS

The project is aimed at students of all levels, with groups of up to 100 participants. Boat activities involve crews of 7–8 students, fostering independence, coordination, and adaptability. Special attention is given to students with motor and cognitive disabilities, who are fully integrated into the crew to strengthen inclusion and collaboration.

METHODOLOGY

The experience is based on active involvement, mutual trust, and cooperation. Classmates become part of the crew, as do the teachers who accompany them! All guided by expert instructors who are attentive to the dynamics of the younger ones, they will board our ASSO99 racing boats.

Students are encouraged to challenge themselves, overcome their fears, and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Group work fosters improved relationships, the discovery of personal aptitudes, and the strengthening of trust in others.
